Introduction

Welcome to the Old Kingstonians' Association website, for former pupils and staff of Kingston High School in Hull, its predecessor and successor schools. Here you will find information about the nature and purpose of the Old Kingstonians' Association, how to become a member, newsletters, information about forthcoming events and committee meeting minutes.

There is also an extensive gallery of photographs from the very beginning of the school through to the present day, together with other documents such as newspaper cuttings. In addition, there are brief biographies of famous Alumni. We hope you enjoy browsing our website, and we welcome any Feedback.

About Old Kingstonians'

The Old Kingstonians' Association (OKA) comprises former staff and pupils of Kingston High School in Hull, its predecessor schools and its successor schools, and the committee is very active. The Association serves as a focal point through which members can meet, maintain and develop friendships, and we produce regular newsletters, with articles covering members' memories of the schools and other items of interest, often including photographs. We also collect and preserve memorabilia of the schools, some of which is available online to members and in person to the public.

This memorabilia includes several hundred photographs, Speech Day programmes and school magazines. In addition, we organise events such as reunions, and maintain strong links with Sirius Academy, which was housed in the now demolished Pickering Road building until it moved to a new building on Anlaby Park Road South in Hull.

Access to OKA Memorabilia

This website offers OKA Members unrestricted access to all our electronically held memorabilia. At the Carnegie Heritage Centre, the physical as well as the electronic memorabilia is available to view, and unrestricted access to the website is offered to the general public as well as to OKA Members. The facilities at Carnegie are free of charge but users are encouraged to make a small donation whenever they visit.

Old Kingstonians' Scholarship Fund

Thanks to the generosity of our members, we have been able to set up the Old Kingstonians' Scholarship Fund, which offers a £500 grant to a different Sirius Academy student each year, who intends to progress to higher education. Potential recipients are asked to send written applications to the Committee, who then make the final selection. The award is presented after A-level results come out, and through our newsletter, we keep members informed about how this progresses. 2014 saw our first student receiving the award.

At the moment, we have enough money in the Scholarship Fund to offer this award for the next three years, but in order for it to continue beyond that, we need more donations. If you would like to donate, say £100 or thereabouts, please complete the Donation Form. Your donation will be gratefully received.

With thanks from the OKA Committee.
